Apple comes to remove an application from the AppStore . Called Vybe Together, the latter offered its users to participate in underground parties… in the midst of a pandemic.
Apple, we know, is no joke in terms of legality. The applications available on the AppStore must therefore respect the law, but also the conditions of use of the store, under penalty of being ejected from the brand's platform.
What exactly happened to Vybe Together, a tool with the most questionable principles.
When an application invites its users to gather ... in time of confinement
This will indeed have escaped no one, but the The world is currently grappling with one of the worst pandemics in its recent history.
The Covid-19 has indeed infected millions of people across the planet, leaving thousands of deaths in its wake. Faced with the urgency of the situation, many states have therefore taken drastic measures based on both containment, curfew and social distancing.
Vybe Together, for its part, was going totally against these principles since the tool encouraged its users to participate in secret and clandestine events. Worse yet, the tool also invited them to “rebel” and join parties held at home. Which, these days, is particularly in bad taste.
The application removed from the AppStore,TikTok account suspended
As a result, Apple took appropriate action. The app has been removed from the AppStore immediately. The apple brand was not the only one to act since TikTok, for its part, also deleted the application's account, for the same reasons.
For its part, the company does not see things quite the same way and thus made it known through one of its spokespersons that Vybe Together did not promote large gatherings and that the tool was mainly intended help people break out of their isolation.
In practice, this obviously does not change anything. Containment is not something that can be arranged and social distancing is currently the only effective weapon we have against the virus.
