PUBG Mobile gets a small card designed for playing on the go

PUBG Mobile has successfully become the One of the most popular - and most lucrative - games in the world, adapting the battle royale genre in a way that makes sense for a smartphone. It still looks like PUBG but in a version that you can slip into your pocket. Now the development team takes this philosophy a step further by introducing a newsmaller card explicitly designed to play fast matches on the go. "We want more people to take advantage of PUBG Mobile in a more flexible way," producer Rick Li told The Verge.

The new card is called Livik, and it is the first that the team has created specifically for mobile gaming. It is small, measuring two by two kilometers, and matches only support a maximum of 40 players at a time. The idea was to create a space where matches could be played quickly; according to the developers, the games on Livik last about 15 minutes each. Li says the card was inspired by players who wanted to be able to hurry up in a quick game whenever they had the time. "The initiative on this card brings more flexibility to players with tighter schedules and circumstances ", he explains.

Livik is based on the northern terrain, and despite its small scale, it is teeming with many points of interest, including a volcano, a hot spring, a waterfall and others. Li says the design process was not only to reduce the map, but also to add many interactive elements that would lead to faster connections. The waterfalls, in particular, should really change the way players approach the battle royale game.

"The waterfalls around the map will offer unique player interactions not available on other maps, Lidit. "The hallmark of the waterfall is the actual physical impact of the water flow. Players can even be swept away by a rapid flow of water when standing at the top of the waterfall. You can also prepare yourself with new surprise tactics, such as launching a powerboat from the top of a waterfall to the water below on an unsuspecting team. This is something that we are really excited to see and we believe we can deliver the most realistic battlefield experience to our players by constantly innovating while staying true to our basic battle royale gameplay. . "

The developers have not said when Livik will be launched, only that it will be releasedavailable "soon ". But its existence is a good indicator of the philosophy that led to the success of PUBG Mobile. While Fortnite offers much the same experience, whether you're on an expensive PC or a low-end smartphone, PUBG has adapted to different platforms. The basic experience remains the same on PC and console, while the mobile iteration continues to experiment with the formula. That said, although Livik is mobile exclusive at the moment, that doesn't mean that its fast gameplay won't end up making its way to other platforms.

"Of course, we're always here to listen to player feedback, says Li. " Other innovations will come and see what happens there 'future. "
