Focus on Hundub, the new “anti-censorship” social network for Viktor Orbán supporters

Under pressure from public opinion and advertisers, the web giants have applied in the last month a much stricter moderation policy towards their conspiratorial users. The fight against disinformation has also become a priority, even if the results are not not always there .

This evolutionution is not to everyone's liking and there has been a migration of many conservative supporters to platforms that are championing free speech. We were talking about Gab , on which many QAnons have found refuge. Parler has also become a rallying point for many Republicans.

"Neither Orbán nor Soros are behind us"

The movement can also be seen in Europe with the arrival of Hundub, a new Hungarian social network launched last December. As stated by our colleagues at Courrier International , it counts among its users the Prime Minister of the country Viktor Orbán and was thought of as a means of "bypassing the censorship" of Facebook.

Quoted by Ouest-France , its founder, Csaba Pál, specifies as follows:" No one will be blocked or deleted due to of his political views. […] We will not seek to create trends or influence anyone in any way ”.

The beginnings are modest but the platform would already have 40,000 members as of December 31 and debates are rife in Hungary, where the opposition has stepped up to the plate. Independent MP Ákos Hadházy believes that “the Orbán clan's dirty money is probably behind Hundub.” A version rejected by the site's creators who claim "Neither Orbán Ni Soros (Hungarian billionaire and hated figure of conspirators Editor's note) are behind us".

Nevertheless, several Hungarian media including 24.hu claim that the site is" a breeding ground for fake news or deception. " While others already believe that the platform will serve as a springboard for Viktor Orbán for the legislative elections of 2022.
