How to add a signature on Gmail?

With Gmail, it is possible to automatically insert a signature each time you send an email. A signature is configurable and can contain multiple information such as name, title, address, phone number, or other important details.

Users can also configure different signatures for Gmail on computer and Gmail on mobile devices. This difference makes it possible, for example, to warn the recipients of mail that you are using a mobile device and that it is thus possible that you are away from the office, which means that you will not have the possibility of respond quickly.

For those who wish to take advantage of this functionality, here are the steps to follow to configure signatures on Gmail.

Signature for Gmail on the web

Adding a signature to the Gmail website is pretty easy. To start, you have to go to "Parameters", the tab at the top right of the screen, then click on "Show all parameters".

Then, you must scroll to down to find the “Signature” option and press “Create”. Once this is done, you have to give the signature a name and click on "Create". All the details such as name, place of work or even telephone number can be inserted in the box to the right of the new signature.

At the bottom of the text editor containing the signature, there is the option "Signature defaults". You must choose the signature for the options "In new e-mails" and "In replies / transfers" so that the signature is integrated by default in all new e-mails sent.

To finish , you must click on "Save changes"which is at the bottom of the page. Obviously, it is possible to create multiple signatures and choose the one you need when the time comes.

Signature for mobile devices

Mobile signatures can also be configured as needed. They replace the desktop versions when using mobile devices.

To create a mobile signature, you must first open the Gmail application on your iPhone, iPad or Android. Then, you must press the menu at the top left of the screen and choose "Settings", and click on the profile picture or the e-mail address.

The configuration depends however of the device used. For iPhone and iPad, click on "Signature Settings" and enable mobile signing by flipping the Mobile Signature switch to the right. You must then add the signature information and close the Gmail application to save.

For Android, pressr on “Mobile signature”, type the text then press “Ok”.

The mobile signature will be integrated into e-mails that will be sent from all mobile devices. However, it is still possible to use the same signature on all devices, whether desktop or mobile.
