Why the income limit is lower to qualify for a second raise check
The new stimulus bill sets income limits for a second $ 600 check tightly to the first, but comes with a few adjustments . As for the first direct payment under CARES Act , income limits are based on your adjusted gross income, or AGI .
By changing the check for $ 600, Congress has decided to just use your 2019 AGI to determine if you qualify for a dunning check, assuming you meet the other conditions - and not your 2018 AGI if you did not file a tax return in 2019. (More information below for people who don't normally file income tax returns.)
The graph below shows the income limits for the second stimulus test , which is lower than the first car of this formula the IRS uses . The first number below represents the limitlower income te to receive the full amount. Above that number, your check amount will decrease on a sliding scale the higher your AGI is, until it hits the second number, which is the maximum you can make before you are disqualified. These income limits do not include qualified children - use our stimulus check calculator to estimate your specific situation.

In the $ 900 billion stimulus package , a U.S. citizen and their non-citizen spouse are both eligible for payment as long as they have a Social Security number. This has been termed a “mixed status household” with respect to citizenship.
In the CARES law of March, households whosea person was not a U.S. citizen were ineligible to receive a stimulus check, even though a spouse and child were U.S. citizens.
Excluded: Non-citizens who file federal taxes but are not married to US citizens
The CARES Act mandated a Social Security number for a payment. Whereas previous proposals would have widened eligibility to those who have an ITIN instead of a Social Security number, since they 're classified as a resident or non-resident foreigner , this group of people is again excluded from the text of the final invoice.
The definition of a dependent child did not change after all with a second stimulus check.

Angela Lang /Will my taxes affect the total stimulus payment amount? What if I usually don't file taxes?
For most people, taxes and stimulus checks are closely related . For example, the most important factor in setting limits income is AGI , which determines how much of the total amount you could receive, whether that is $ 600 or $ 1,200 for individuals and $ 1,200 or $ 2,400 for married couples (excluding children for now).
