The best 32-inch TVs cannot offer high-end technologies like 4K resolution or HDR, and it won't be the centerpiece of your home theater. If you also want an OLED TV, you won't get a smaller model than a 48-inch model.

But for a convenient second screen, something to put on a shelf in a compact bedroom, or something that you're likely to keep hidden half the time, a small TV might be the way to go. (For occasional and solo use, in particular, a small TV is much more proportioned.)

VIZIO pretty much rules the roost when it comes to high-quality TVs in the United States, with the 2018 D32-D1 being the best of all.

Although thename doesn't really jump out at you, VIZIO's small screen has a lot to offer - including full 1080p resolution and an app bar filled with the most popular streaming services (including Netflix, YouTube, and Hulu). We recommend plugging in some speakers if you can, as the built-in ones aren't great.

That being said, if you're looking for something smart, small, and affordable at a 32-inch waistline, you can't beat the little wonder of VIZIO in our opinion.

2. Samsung The Frame (2020)

The most elegant little TV on the market

You might be surprised to see a designer TV in this list, but this new artistically minded Samsung TV is a shoe-in - at least, having introduced a new size 32-inch for the 2020 model, bringing QLED picture quality to shas the smallest size ever.

The main feature of the frame is to blend in with your decor, with an Art mode that displays classic artwork and an Ambient mode for moody screensavers. Customizable glasses mean you'll also be able to fully control the look and color of your ensemble, whether you mount it on the wall among real picture frames or place it on a bedroom shelf for nighttime viewing.

The frame is more expensive than most of the others on this list, but if you're looking for the best 32 inch TV / furnishings, this is going to be it. This set is currently available in the UK, with an American model expected to arrive at some point in 2020.

3. Samsung UN32M5300 (US)

Samsung has been a leader in 32 inch televisions for years, and right now its top model is the UN32M5300.

Why? It offers full 1080p footage and its Tizen operating system for a price that most people can afford. This gives access to plenty of apps and the TV's built-in Wi-Fi means you don't have to plug it into your router.

Of course, the UN32M5300 does not have the most connection ports in the world, with only twoHDMI locations to choose from. But hey, the small compromises are really worth it.

4. Cello Netgem Smart TV (UK)

An inexpensive HDTV worth buying

Cello may be a humble UK TV brand, but it knows how to cater to those on a tight budget - starting at just £ 169 for the model 24 inches, and additional sizestaires at 32 inches and above.

The Cello Netgem Smart TV combines a very basic smart TV platform with the UK's FreeView Play catch-up service - for BBC iPlayer, All 4, ITV Hub, etc. Support for the app is generally good, with Amazon Prime Video and Rakuten TV as well, although you don't get Netflix here, which is a major absence for any smart TV.

Support for Alexa isn't too useful beyond loading specific apps, but the low price tag and decent SDR image are enough to make this bundle easy to recommend as a small inexpensive TV. You'll also get Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution rather than the HD (1280 x 720) output of the Sony set below ...

5. TCL 32S305 (US)

A 32 inch TV from 2017 that can still be hung with the best of them

In 2017 the TCL 32S305 was one of the best-selling 32 inch TVs. It was affordable, offered a built-in Roku TV and decent picture quality considering it was limited to 720p.

Since then, a number of nicer TVs have appeared (cough Samsung M5300) but, if price is your main criterion, you can 'not bad with 2017 ' s best.

6. Sony KDL32WE613 (UK)

HDR in a 32 inch TV

The Sony KDL32WE613 is proof that a 32 inch TV does not have to miss out on new technologies. It supports HDR, which is typically only seen on much larger and more expensive TVs.

HDR is not equal between sets as it relies on the contrast and brightness of a screen, but it will let you get more out of a Netflix or Amazon Video subscription. high end, or your favorite console games. The TV also offers recording via USB, Wi-Fi and access to BBC iPlayer, YouTube and a handful of other apps.

The stinger is that this 32 inch TV is only 720p, not Full HD. If you look at close-up, the advantages of uno higher resolution may trump HDR.

Smart Features / Wi-Fi

With 32 inch televisions, one of the most important features to look for is the 'television smart. When it comes to a TV for a second or third room, smart features can dramatically improve the value and usefulness of TVs for the simple reason that it saves you the hassle of buying another set-top box or a streaming stick. You might regret not having access to Netflix, Amazon, or Disney Plus - or just the 'humble Freeview Play catch-up service in the UK.

Instead, all the features of these devices are integrated, saving you time and money. If you're looking for a TV to fill a bedroom or office, a set with Wi-Fi capability that supports video streaming and file sharing should be high on your list.

Full HD resolution

If you can, we recommend that you avoid televisions with a resolution lower than 1080p. Sure, a 720p picture will look great on a smaller screen, but if you want all the detail in the pictures, a 1080p TV is the way to go. Keep in mind that some retailers and manufacturers will try to mislead customers by labeling most 32 inch TVs as "HD Ready, which means they have HD resolution; However, even though the lower resolution of 1366 x 768 is technically referred to as 'HD Ready ', it will provide a cloudier and less clear picture than TVs with a Full HD 1920 x 1080 ( 'Full HD ') screen.

Ports and Inputs

The Right Kind of Panel

There are basically two types of LCD panel technology for 32 inch TVs: IPS andGOES. IPS panels offer slightly wider viewing angles, while VA panels support much better contrast.

With the 'main ' big screen TVs likely to be used for watching movies, sometimes with the lights dimmed, the lack of contrast with IPS displays can become a big problem, which makes dark scenes washed out. So if you are looking for a 32 inch TV to get into a relatively dark environment, a VA panel is a must.

IPS panel contrast issues are less of an issue in bright rooms such as verandas and kitchens, however, and the (slight) advantage of the IPS viewing angle can also come in handy in such expansive environments where viewers can use the TV while walking around the room.

Sound quality

Far too many 32 inch televisions consider the son like an afterthought, even though it is a key part of any visual experience. It can be difficult to judge a TV's likely audio performance, however, without hearing it for yourself.

All you can do is research the output specifications of the speakers (although they aren't notoriously unreliable) and clues in designing a TV: front speakers , built-in bass speakers, enough room in the rear for air to circulate, and so on.
