How to find the screen resolution of your Mac

The (in pixels per pixels) of your Mac's screen determines how much information you can fit into the screen and how sharp the image is, so it's important to know that. If you're running a game or fullscreen application with native resolution , the image will be at its best, so here's how to know what it is.

First, click on the Apple icon in the upper left corner of the screen, then select "About This Mac.

In the window that appears, click on the "Poster" tab.

On the next screen you will see information about the displaye (or displays) that you have integrated or connected to your Mac.

The screen resolution is the set of numbers shown in parentheses just after the screen size. For example, the listing here says "27 inches (2560 x 1440), which means the Mac this image has a 27 inch screen with a resolution of 2560 x 1140 pixels."

(Note that "About This Mac always displays the native (ideal) screen resolution, regardless of the resolution settings in System Preferences.)
