CenturyLink, a telecommunications company based in Louisiana, United States, suffered significant difficulties during the day yesterday. A major breakdown in their services caused problems worldwide, even in France. “On August 30, customers in various international markets were affected by an outage across our network, the company confirmed. The failure, now fully resolved, would have lasted nearly five hours, according to the site Downdetector .

Globally, this outage affected many popular sites, such as Amazon or eBay . According to Downdetector, which tracks incidents of users across different departments, at least 10,000 CenturyLink customers have been affected by the outage. The Hulu streaming platform also suffered major problems as did the gaming platforms of Pl.ayStation or Xbox. In France, the outage was notably noted among Téléfoot subscribers, who may have encountered certain difficulties in accessing Ligue 1 matches during the day yesterday.

For the time being, the The origin of the failure was not detailed beyond measure by CenturyLink, which simply warned of its resolution. However, this could be due to network problems in one of its data centers, as can be seen on the company's website. This is not the first time that the company has suffered such a bug. An otherwise more damaging outage in 2018 caused major problems in U.S. emergency call centers (911), even affecting ATMs.
